I'm Joe Robertson, the Conservative MP for Isle of Wight East. We may already have met, but if we haven't, then I look forward to meeting you and discussing your concerns soon.
Joe Robertson, has introduced a proposed new law in the House of Commons to try and improve ferry services. Joe has tabled the Ferry Services (Integration and Regulation) Bill under the “10 minute rule motion” to regulate ferry services not only on cross-Solent routes, but throughout the UK.
Unlike with trains and buses, there are no nation-wide controls over how ferry services are operated, including pricing, timetables and performance. This means communities like the Isle of Wight are entirely reliant on unregulated private transport operators for essential transport links. The proposed new law seeks to improve connectivity, reduce prices and bring ferry services in line with wider UK public transport provision.
Joe Robertson is inviting all children across East Wight to take part in his second Christmas Card Competition.
Following the success of the competition in 2024, Joe is asking for submissions for his 2025 digital Christmas card. The winning designs will feature on Joe’s digital Christmas Card and website.
The designs can be in any medium (pencil, felt tip, crayon, or paint) and should be sent to his Constituency Office by 24th November. All primary school aged children are invited to submit their designs, and three winning entries will be selected from different age groups. Joe’s cards will be sent both locally and nationally during December.
Joe said:
“After receiving so many fantastic entries last year, I am looking forward to seeing what fun designs are in store for 2025! It was fitting to launch the competition at Gatten and Lake Primary School where two of last year’s winning designs by Etta and Ted were from.
It was very difficult to choose the winners last year and I am sure it will be equally tough again this year.”
The deadline for entries is 24th November 2025.
Schools are requested to collate their submissions where possible. Entries should be posted to: Office of Joe Robertson MP, Shanklin Conservative Club, 6 Palmerston Road, Shanklin, Isle of Wight, PO37 6AU or email a good quality scan to [email protected] by 24th November 2025. Please ensure that all entries are accompanied with the child’s name, school (where applicable) and year group.
