Joe Robertson has praised the extraordinary efforts of local volunteers in Sandown, who stepped up to save fish at the town’s canoe lake amid deteriorating conditions.
Over recent days, dozens of residents worked around the clock – dredging the lake and adding 180,000 litres of fresh water – to stabilise water quality. Their dedication has helped ensure the vast majority of fish have been saved.
“This is Sandown at its best,” said Joe Robertson. “Natalie, Darcy, Katrina, Marcus, Adrian – and so many others – gave their time selflessly, often through the night, to protect something important to our community. I want to say a huge thank you to everyone involved.”
