A meeting at Bembridge Community Library brought together Joe Robertson MP and Ian Graham of the Heritage Society to discuss plans to make local historical artefacts accessible to the public.
The Society holds a significant collection of records and items currently in storage, pending the development of a permanent space at the rear of the library. Discussions focused on the need for the Isle of Wight Council to grant the necessary consents so building works can proceed, enabling the collection to be displayed for the benefit of the community.
Joe Robertson MP said:
“It was good to meet up with Ian Graham from the Heritage Society in Bembridge Community Library. Bembridge has a rich local history, and it is important that these artefacts are available for residents and visitors to enjoy. I am asking the Isle of Wight Council to get on with providing the relevant consents so the Society can get on with the necessary building works to allow them to move in."
