A meeting was held with members of the Monktonmead Flood Group in Ryde to review the current position with the Environment Agency, Isle of Wight Council, and Southern Water.
Joe Robertson MP listened to concerns that recent reports still do not address the fundamental issue of surface water management nor set out a clear plan for responding to potential floodwater from the brook combined with runoff from higher ground.
Mr Robertson said, "Great to meet up with some of the Monktonmead Flood Group in Ryde. This issue must have been foreseen when the flood defence at the rec was built, so I want to see all the documentation which led to that scheme being built from public money. Half answers are not enough."
