The Isle of Wight Story Festival brought together authors, illustrators and young readers for a celebration of books and storytelling.
During a visit from Joe Robertson MP, there was an opportunity to speak with Festival Director Elspeth Giddens and children’s author and illustrator Rob Biddulph, who officially opened the event. The festival’s work with local schools was highlighted as a key part of its mission to inspire a lifelong love of reading among young people.
Joe Robertson MP said: “Great to visit the IW Story Festival and chat with director Elspeth Giddens and Rob Biddulph who cut the ribbon. The work they do with local schools is really important to try and instil the love of reading in kids. Following the opening I looked in on the 'Paws and Whiskers' session with Olha Bereza from Ukraine and illustrator Yana. Plenty of children's books for sale so I bought some!”
