I met with Isle of Wight Council Director of Adult Social Care (which includes housing) to discuss pressures on the Island. The Government is planning better pay for care workers which I obviously support however, any increase in pay MUST be accompanied by additional funding from Government because neither providers or our Council have the extra money to pay for it. The Government’s 3 year Casey Commission which will report in 2028 should not be used as an excuse not to properly fund social care now.
