Joe Robertson MP recently met with Year 6 pupils at Gatten and Lake Primary School to give the students an insight into Westminster politics and life as an MP.
It was encouraging to see such genuine interest among the pupils in how Parliament works and how laws are made and unmade. If the Government proceeds with plans to lower the voting age to 16, today’s Year 6 pupils could be on the verge of voting at the next General Election.
Mr Robertson said, “I thoroughly enjoyed meeting Year 6 pupils at Gatten and Lake Primary School last week and answering their many thoughtful questions, including one particularly memorable query: ‘Do you like the Prime Minister?” I had an easy answer to that: I have never met him.”
