Joe Robertson MP has introduced a proposed new law in the House of Commons today to regulate and integrate ferry services across the UK.
The Government says it is improving the integration of our bus, rail, and road networks - yet ferries continue to be ignored centrally.
Mr Robertson said, "Although this isn’t just about the Isle of Wight, I will be using our own sorry example of expensive and unreliable cross-Solent ferries to make the case for my proposed new law.
If the private equity ferry owners can’t get their own house in order (and they’ve shown they can’t), then Parliament and the Government must step in and do it for them.
MPs from five different parties are backing my Bill, including my neighbour Richard Quigley - which shows just how widespread the concern is."
